PURPOSE: To offer a surgical knife having a retracting-type blade which slides from an intermediate position to an extended position, and takes a permanently withdrawn position for disuse to be protected not to contact any by mistake. CONSTITUTION: This surgical knife 10 is provided with a handle having a carriage 20 which holds its blade. The blade 100 extends from an intermediate position within the handle 30 to a position over the tip of the handle, and the carriage 20 slides to an extended position where the blade is exposed for use. After using the knife, the blade is put back by sliding to the intermediate position to cover it when the knife is delivered by hand from man to man in an operating room. The blade can slide to a permanently latching position where the blade is covered permanently to be able to scrap the surgical knife. Further, provided are a means for preventing the blade from moving by mistake by securely clasping the blade at the extended position and at the intermediate position, and a means for indicating the position where the blade is permanently latched for disuse. |
