<p>PURPOSE:To improve effectiveness of an engine brake by changing an engaging condition in an automatic transmission from its present speed change shift to a lower speed side speed change shift to increase a speed of an internal combustion engine, and controlling its operating condition transferred to a fuel cut region. CONSTITUTION:By a control means 86, an automatic transmission 70 is placed in an engaging condition of speed change shift on a high speed side of a drive range D, to set a throttle valve to an idle opening, and an operating condition of an internal combustion engine 2 is placed out of a fuel cut region, to operate stepping in a brake pedal 92. In this condition, when a car speed is less than a preset car speed after a prescribed time, the automatic transmission 70 is shifted down to an engaging condition of a speed change shift in a side lower than the present speed change shift, to increase a speed of the internal combustion engine 2, so as to control the operating condition transferred to a fuel cut region. Thus by a frequent fuel cut, fuel consumption and exhaust purifying performance are improved, and also effectiveness of an engine brake can be improved.</p> |
