<p>PURPOSE:To interconnect pipes without welding by fastening first and second flanges to each other with bolts and nuts and press-fitting the wide plane parts of the first and second flanges to each other to compress a seal ring with first and second flare parts of a first and second pipes while fastening tight both pipes to each other. CONSTITUTION:First and second exhaust pipes 1, 2 are fitted in a tubular body 4 having a seal ring 5 fitted therein such that first and second flare parts 1a, 2a of these exhaust pipes are opposed to each other. Next, first and second flange 10, 11 are fitted respectively in the first and second exhaust pipes 1, 2 symmetrically in mirror plane relationship to one another. Then, wide plane parts 7 of the first and second flanges 10, 11 are compressed against each other by tightening bolts 12 and nuts 13. Thus, the first and second flare parts 1a, 2a of the first and second exhaust pipes 1, 2 compress and deform the seal ring 5 while the first and second exhaust pipes 1, 2 are interconnected in the sealed condition.</p> |
