PURPOSE:To make a separated burner and a separated pipe unnecessary to simplify the constitution of a cathode compartment of a fuel cell by directly introducing a fuel exhaust gas into the cathode compartment and burning it with an oxidant gas. CONSTITUTION:A fuel cell 2 is constituted so that an anode passage 4C ends in an anode outlet port 4D directly supplying gas to a cathode inlet manifold 5B. A fuel exhaust gas is supplied from the outlet port 4D to the oxidant inlet manifold 5B and mixed with an oxidant gas supplied to the oxidant inlet manifold. As a result, a mixture of the fuel gas and the oxidant gas is supplied to a cathode passage through the cathode inlet manifold 5B and a cathode inlet port 5A. The fuel exhaust gas is burned by the oxidant gas in a cathode passage 5C to generate CO2 gas necessary to accelerate electrochemical reaction inside the fuel cell 2. |
