PURPOSE:To provide an operation method for a flat plate type solid electrolyte fuel cell in which stress after temperature lowering attendant on the residual strain caused by the reduction expansion of an interconnector after power generating operation is made zero to prevent breakage of the interconnector and to make restarting possible. CONSTITUTION:When a flat plate type solid electrolyte fuel cell using a ceramic material in an interconnector 2 is operated for power generation, after power generation was finished, fuel gas supply from a fuel gas supply line 4 is stopped at 1000-900 deg.C. The fuel gas is replaced with an inert gas, then an oxidation gas containing at least oxygen is introduced from a n oxidation gas supply line 6 to convert the interconnector 2 from an oxidation state into reduction state, then the temperature is lowered to normal temperature. |
