PURPOSE:To entirely eliminate defectively clamped optical fibers and to obtain good connectability by composing a clamping device of a part which is connected to the optical fibers and presses the optical fibers and a bracket and composing this pressing part of plural slender elastic materials. CONSTITUTION:The tips of hairs 440 of a brush 44 first come into contact with the optical fibers 24 when the fiber clamp 40 is gradually lowered from the states of figures (a), (b). The hairs 440 deflect and press the optical fibers 24 to the bottoms of V-grooves 14 by their own elasticity when the clamp 40 descends further. The states of (c), (d) are finally attained. At this time, one piece of the optical fibers 24 are pressed by one or several pieces of the hairs 440, by which the respective optical fibers 24 are pushed onto the respective corresponding V-grooves and are discretely clamped. In some cases, >=2 pieces of the optical fibers 24 are simultaneously pressed according to the bending directions of the hairs 440 but the clamping is not adversely affected by such pressing if the material having high resilience is used. As a result, the defectively clamped fibers are entirely eliminated even if there is irregularity in the heights of the optical fibers 24. |
