PURPOSE: To develop a succeeding protocol version with higher degree of design freedom by providing a 1st form information element to a message consisting of a 2nd form information element to be supplied to a system based on the protocol version so that the information contents of both the forms of information elements are made substantially to match with each other. CONSTITUTION: A protocol dependent section 5 of a system 4 based on a protocol version is coupled with a 1st device 7 via a bus 6. The device 7 is coupled with a protocol dependent section 2 of the system 1 via a bus 3 based on one protocol version. When the section of the system is based on a 1st (low) protocol version, the system sends a message consisting of the information element of the 1st form and when the section of the system is based on a 2nd (high) protocol version, the system sends a message consisting of the information element of the 2nd.
