PURPOSE:To make it possible to decrease defectively clamped optical fibers so that good connectability is obtd. in fusion splicing, etc., by using plural pieces of pressing members of fiber clamps and making these members independently and vertically movable. CONSTITUTION:The pressing members divided to a plurality are formed by providing the members vertically movably with brackets 42 above V-grooves 14, mounting plural sheets 46 thinner than the pitch p of the V-grooves 14 at the brackets 42 in such a manner that these sheets can be vertically displaced independently by each one sheet right above each one V-groove 14. Downward force is discretely applied at all times on the sheets 46. The bottom end of the longitudinal part 462 of one sheet of the sheet 46 comes into contact discretely with one piece of the optical fiber 24 when the fiber clamp 40 descends at this time. The respective longitudinal parts 462 are risen up by turning around pins 48 while compressing elastic materials 54. Consequently, the respective fibers 24 are discretely clamped and the defectively clamped optical fibers are entirely eliminated even if there is irregularity in the height of the fibers 24. |
