The invention concerns protective work clothing which includes a main part 1, legs 2, sleeves 3 and head part 4 which are made of a water-tight material and between which there are seams which have been made water-tight advantageously by heat-sealing. Inside the clothing there are floats 6 which keep the wearer floating on the surface of the water, and the openings of the legs, sleeves and head part are protected. To produce versatile protective clothing, at least some of the floats 6 are placed in inner pockets 7 formed inside the clothing, in such a way that these floats can be removed and replaced. <IMAGE>
