PURPOSE:To reduce unwanted image recording after interruption is instructed and the futile use of a recording medium by erasing an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor reaching a developing unit with a latent image erasing means, at the time of interrupting during image forming processing. CONSTITUTION:When a clearance/stop key on a control panel is depressed during copying and it is interrupted while a printing paper sheet 3 is carried by a paper feeding roller 23, a scanner is not driven with a copying interruption signal because a scanner starting timing is not obtained. Consequently, a leading edge erasing timing is not obtained as a matter of course, so that all erasing lamps 25 are lighted with a tailing edge erasing timing transmitted from an exposure optical system 14 after the first copy of an original 7 is completed and all the electrostatic latent images on the photoreceptor 20 are erased. Then, the printing paper 3 in a blank paper state is held in an inner cassette 38 and automatically used for the next printing, so that it is unnecessary that the printing paper 3 is rehoused in paper cassettes 4-6. |
