PURPOSE:To permit only an image pickup element to adjust a focus and exposure in short time so as to reduce a release time lag by setting a photographing condition different from that of a photographing preparation processing at the time of focus adjustment using the image pickup element and normal exposure after exposure is adjusted. CONSTITUTION:System control CPU 10 roughly adjusts exposure, adjusts the focus, finely adjusts exposure and detects light source flicker by the operation of a first release switch in the operation part 12 of a digital electronic camera 100. When a second release switch is depressed, the focus is recognized. Namely, an electronic shutter 2 conducts exposure for prescribed time and the output of the image pickup element 4 is read. A distance-measuring signal and a light- measuring signal are derived by the signal which is read. When the difference is smaller than a prescribed value, a focused state is judged to be unchanged. When it is more than the prescribed value, readjustment is conducted. An image pickup signal which is exposed by an exposure condition decided by the previous light-measuring signal is read. A final light-measuring signal and a flicker detection signal are derived by the signal, and normal exposure photographing is conducted after final exposure is adjusted. |
