PURPOSE:To provide an intelligent radiation image detector capable of setting an optimum measuring state automatically according to the intensity of incident radiation. CONSTITUTION:A rotation control circuit formed of a stepping motor 26, a motor rotating gear 27, an adjusting ring gear 28 and a microcomputer forms an opening quantity adjusting means for adjusting the size of the opening part of a pinhole 25a according to the incident dosage. This opening quantity adjusting means opens the opening part of the pinhole 25a large in the case of no incidence of radiation so as to perform radiation leakage detection of high sensitivity. In the case of detecting the incidence of radiation, the opening quantity adjusting means reduces the size of the opening part of the pinhole 25a so as to converge an incident radiation image in the optimum state on the detection face of a scintillator 31. The radiation image detection of high resolution is thereby performed, and this radiation image is blink-displayed on a CRT monitor.
