The lift guides are fixed to the structure of the building (5) and are formed from a series of support arms (6), each fixed so as to project horizontally from the face of the building. The arms are fixed to the building, one above the other to form both sides of the vertical line of travel for the lift (1).The arms are formed with a cross sectional area, which decreases closer to the free end (6b) and form a series of cantilever supports for the lift guides. The inner faces of the support arms are fitted with support brackets (12 to 18), which are designed to carry the vertical guides (2) for the lift cabin.
