PURPOSE:To prevent the excessive cleaning of a light transmission window with a cleaning member, to make the movement of the cleaning member reciprocal and to form a developer container into a special shape except a cylindrical shape, in a device receiving light from a light emitting element with a light receiving element via the light transmission window provided on the developer container to detect the presence of a developer in the developer container. CONSTITUTION:In the developer container housing developer, the light transmission window 26b provided on the wall surface of the developer container, the cleaning member 50 being in the developer container and reciprocating taking a supporting shaft as the center to clean the inside of the light transmission window and the developer presence detecting device receiving the light from a light emitting part in a light receiving part via the light transmission window to detect the presence of the developer, a wiper guide 52b regulating the cleaning action of the cleaning member is provided thereon to clean the light transmission window with the cleaning member in one direction of the reciprocating anovement and not to allow the cleaning member to come into contact with the light passing part of the light transmission window in the other direction. |
