PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption required to write data as to the AC type plasma display panel driving method. CONSTITUTION:Plural data pulses 4 are superposed on data base pulses 8 in identical-polarity relation and the data base pulses 8 are so set that a voltage difference in reference voltage between a column electrode and a scanning electrode is lower than the discharge start voltage between the column electrode and scanning electrode at the time, of write discharge. The data base pulses 8 have maximum pulse width is set within a period of one subordinate field when one field is divided into (n) (n: integer larger than 1) subordinate fields and information of one picture is written and displayed in each subordinate field, the period of the field includes a period wherein the data base pulses are stopped and a column electrode returns to the reference voltage, and this period includes at least one of a preliminary discharge pulse or preliminary discharge erasure pulse. |
