PURPOSE:To improve print throughput without degrading print quality. CONSTITUTION:Print data sent by a host device are received, the print data are expanded into image data, a print head is driven corresponding to the image data and an electrostatic latent image is formed on a print drum, and the electrostatic latent image is developed by a developer to obtain a toner image and it is transferred onto paper by a transfer device and fixed on the paper by a fixing device. Furthermore, a print area and a non-print area on the paper are identified, the length of the non-print area in the subscanning direction is calculated and the length of the non-print area and an image transfer distance from a light emitting position on the print drum to the fixing device are compared. When the length of the non-print area is longer than the image transfer distance, the rotating speed of the print drum is increased. Since the time not contributing image forming is reduced, the print throughput is improved. |
