<p>PURPOSE: To accurately monitor and control the indoor environment by pattern- recognizing and analyzing the signal data from multiple universal sensors and humidity sensors. CONSTITUTION: A sensor array 24 in a space 12 is constituted of multiple sensor elements 26. The elements 26 consist of a group of tin oxide sensors responding to the sense of smell of a human, and they can detect specific compounds such as ethanol and hydrogen sulfide and multiple groups of materials such as cooking gas. Humidity and temperature sensors are provided to monitor the comfortableness of an occupant. Signals from the sensor elements 26 are fed to a computer 30, features are extracted and processed, then data are adjusted and processed for subsequent use. The adjusted data are pattern-recognized and analyzed, and the reliable output display of the indoor air quality can be determined. A pseudo neutral network, the direction cosine analysis, and the Euclidean direction measurement are most useful for the pattern recognition technique.</p> |
