PURPOSE:To suppress fluctuation in torque by providing a constant current drive means and a chopper frequency varying means thereby varying the chopper frequency depending on the motor speed. CONSTITUTION:The controller for stepper motor comprises a CPU 30 for general control, a section 31 for driving a step motor 32 with a constant current, and a section 34 for varying the chopper frequency. The controller further comprises a sensor 35 for monitoring the vibration at a part 33 to be driven, a double integrator 36 for processing the value detected through the sensor 35, and a frequency converter 3'/. For example, the part 33 to be driven is an optical system employing the stepper motor 32 as a scanner motor. When the optical system is driven, the CPU 30 for controlling a copy machine delivers a step signal for driving the motor to the constant current drive section 31 and a chopper frequency setting signal to the chopper frequency varying section 34. Consequently, the motor 32 is driven through the constant current drive section 31 thus driving a load 33. |
