PURPOSE:To manufacture a pasted positive plate which is for use in a sealed lead-acid battery formed in a battery jar and which is capable of enhancing the formation efficiency of the sealed lead-acid battery and greatly extending the life of the storage battery. CONSTITUTION:A mixture is formed by the kneading together of mixed powders of lead monoxide and metal lead, water and dilute sulfuric acid until no free sulfuric acid substantially exists. In order for no free sulfuric acid to exist substantially, preferably the kneading is carried out for at least 10 minutes or more to raise the pH of the mixture sufficiently. Next, a high-order lead oxide which when reacted with a dilute sulfuric acid of high specific gravity produces lead sulfate and lead dioxide is kneaded with the mixture to form an active material paste. Then, after the active material paste is packed in a collector, the active material paste is aged and dried in an atmosphere with 80% or more humidity at temperatures between 65 deg.C and 120 deg.C to manufacture a pasted positive plate for an unformed storage battery. |
