摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To optimize the read channel of a data recorder, making its reading characteristic variable easily in response to the characteristic of the data recorder, by altering the bandwidth of a low-pass filter to make the bandwidth of the signal read from a disk adjustable. CONSTITUTION: First, to a low-pass filter and equalizer 50 of the read channel of a data recorder, the default values of their bandwidth and boost level are set. Then, performing the writings/readings of data in/from the data recorder under its worst condition, the error occurrence rate of the read channel is computed and compared with a reference error rate to judge the default values as their optimization values when the error occurrence rate is low. When it is high, altering the boost level of the equalizer 50, the error generation rate is computed to determine the boost level corresponding to the lowest error occurrence rate in that time. Then, comparing again this lowest error occurrence rate with the reference error rate, that boost level is judged as the optimization value when the error occurrence rate is low. When it is high, altering the bandwidth of the low-pass filter 50, the error occurrence rate is computed to determine the bandwidth corresponding to the lowest error occurrence rate in that time. Then, comparing again this error occurrence rate with the reference error rate to judge that bandwidth as the optimization value when the error occurrence rate is low.</p>
