PURPOSE:To provide a method for easily producing a thin and long tape-shaped multicore fiber which is hardly broken. CONSTITUTION:A glass sheet 10 having a wide groove is prepared, many optical fibers are arranged in the groove in columns, the upper part is covered with a glass sheet, and the fibers are integrated to form a base material. A quartz glass sheet of the same size as the base material is welded to one end of the base material to seal the fibers. Subsequently, the base material is sucked from the quartz glass side and drawn from the quartz glass side welded to the base material to obtain a tape-shaped multicore fiber. |
