PURPOSE:To surely clean a charge wire by means of cleaning member of a corona discharger without providing a position detecting sensor. CONSTITUTION:In an electrifier 1 as the corona discharger, its conductor part is not electrically connected with a casing 12 when the cleaner (cleaning member) 13 exists in the position of a stopper 18, in a standby position abutting on the stopper 18, or in a return position, and the part is electrically connected when it exists in other positions. The direction of the movement of the cleaner 13 is switched over by the presence or absence of a leakage current which is detected at the time of driving a drive motor 14. Additionally, during the movement of the cleaner 13 by means of the drive motor 14, a discharge voltage is intermittently applied to the charge wire 11 by means of a power source. |
