PURPOSE: To obtain a high-contrast and high-resolution picture. CONSTITUTION: At least one layer contg. at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion is applied on a substrate to obtain a photographic material in this method. The silver halide crystal contains at least 60mol% silver chloride, 5-40mol% silver bromide and 0-1mol% silver iodide. A water-soluble iridium compd. is added to the silver halide emulsion at pH4 to 6.5 and -0.3 to 1 pCl and in 0.05-0.5 weight ratio of the silver halide, expressed in terms of gelatin- equivalent silver nitrate, between the end of physical ageing and that of chemical ageing to obtain the photographic material.
