The operating part for an electric device has a front aperture (4) in which buttons (3,12) are arranged. The buttons (3,12) pivot about a first pivot point (5,13). The buttons (3,12) have parts (3a,12a) arranged behind the front aperture (4). When the buttons (3,12) are pressed, these parts (3a,12a) operate switch points (1a) which react to pressing the buttons.A conversion lever (6,14) is arranged between the respective buttons (3,12) and the switch point (1a). This lever (6,14) pivots about a second pivot point (7,8,15). The lever has a switch arm between the second pivot point (7,8,15) and the point at which it operates the switch point (1a). The length (b) of this arm is such that a part of the lever removed from the second pivot point (7,8,15) acts on the switch point (1a) with a minimum angle (alpha) and thus with no tilting.
