PURPOSE:To automatically mount an electronic part on a board fixing its terminals to the side of the board by a method wherein the electronic part held making its terminals confront its side is moved towards the board. CONSTITUTION:An engaging rod is made to bear against the side 1b of a board 1 which extends in a Y direction to position the board 1 in an X direction, clampers 30 and 32 are driven to make the tips of clamp rods 31 and 33 bear against the side of the board 1 which extends in the X direction to position the board 1 in the Y direction. Then, a cylinder is actuated to push up the board 1 to press the upside of its side 1c against board pressing members 8a and 9a to position the board 1 in a Z direction, surface-mounting type electronic parts 53, 54, and 55 are mounted on the surface of the board 1 by a transfer head H. An electrode 1b provided to the board l and a terminal 3 provided to an electronic part 2 are made to coincide with each other in position along the Y direction by the transfer head H, the electronic part 2 is attracted to suction faces 22a and 22b, electronic part holding blocks 22 and 23 are moved to fix the terminal 3 of the electronic part 2 to the side of the board 1. |
