PURPOSE:To burn combustible gas even at a low temperature by a method wherein a catalyst, made by coating composite oxide consisting of individual alumina, silica, titania, zirconia or two kinds or more of oxides of these elements on a heat resistant substrate, is arranged at the rear stage of the catalyst to burn the combustible gas. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst, made by coating powder obtained by bearing palladium oxide on a bearer containing composite oxide consisting of two kinds or more of oxides among the oxides of alumina, silica, titania and zirconia and the oxide of rare earth elements on a heat resistant substrate, is provided at the fore stage of flow passage of combustible gas. A catalyst, made by coating powder obtained by bearing two kinds or more of oxides among the oxides of magnesia, zirconia and rare earth elements and palladium oxide on the heat resistant substrate, is arranged on a bearer provided at the rear stage of the catalyst to burn the combustible gas. According to this method, combustible gas can be burned even at a low temperature. |
