Vehicle suspension damper control system with single acceleration sensor

The control system includes the adjusting device (9) for the vibration dampers which is controlled in dependence on evaluated measured signals of a single vehicle acceleration sensor (17) the measuring direction (19) of which is inclined to the three axes x,y,z of movement of the vehicle at 45 deg respectively. The signal separating device (25) having a band pass filter (31) with its middle frequency tuned to the natural frequency of vibration of the vehicle structure (3) separates a vertical signal component (bz).A subtraction device (33) take the difference between the signal from the acceleration sensor (17) and the vertical signal component (bz), to deliver a second signal component (bxy) for the acceleration components associated jointly with the x and y axes. The evaluating device (35,37) associated separately with the signal components bz and bxy produce required damping force components (nz and nxy) which are summed by a summing device (39) to form a control signal for controlling the adjusting device (9).
