The invention pertains to a locking element for securing the connection established by a hook bracket and a standard for purposes of mounting a crossbeam to the standard of a plug-in stand or rack, especially pallet rack. The locking element consists of a locking spring and a locking pin with a head part and a shaft part. Head part and shaft part are detachably connected to each other in such a way that they can be released from their connection by a tilting movement of the shaft part about a pivot or bearing point, whereby the shaft part is levered out of its seat in a bore in the head part so that the head part falls off from the locking spring when there is displacement in the vertical between hook bracket and standard and consequent tipping movement of the shaft part. This makes it visibly evident that the connection between bracket and standard is threatened. The connection can thus be secured again before it is broken entirely and the bracket has fallen off the standard along with the crossbeam.
