One=piece retainer for holding screw in position in component for later tightening

The retainer (1) is moulded in one piece. It has a screw holder area (4) and a surround (2) with an intentional breaking zone (3) between them weakened by holes or notches (10,11). When a screw (5) is inserted into the holder a space (13) with pref. stepped sides (16) widens to meet the underside of the screw head (6).The screw is held in position until the connection of components is to be made. Screwing in presses the screw head against the surround. The force in the surround causes the weakened area to yield elastically and the surround to break off.
