The seats (2b,2c), mounted adjacent to one another on a supporting structure with spaces (5) between them, are adjusted by a mechanism with an endless screw (6) with its axis lying parallel to the axis of the seat row, engaging with a nut (8) on each of the movable seats. When the screw is rotated in one direction the seats are moved closer together and the spaces between them reduced, while in the opposite direction the seats are moved further apart. The screw is supported by a bearing (10) fixed to one of the seats or its supporting structure, and it can have different threaded sections (9b) for each of the seats to be moved, with threads which are self-locking. The screw can be turned either manually or by an electric or other motor. <IMAGE>
