The aircraft has two stabilising fins (5) fitted symmetrically on the fuselage (2) and pivotable around a horizontal axis (C-C) perpendicular to the plane longitudinal axis (X-X). A computer (14) outputs control signals (15,16) via a four-pole control switch (17) to two jacks (12) and two coupling devices (9) connected to the fins via drive shafts (7,11). The computer responds to continuous measurements of the plane speed (V) w.r.t the air, its altitude (H), its mass (m), and the position (c) of its gravity centre along the X-X axis. In stabilised flight without atmospheric disturbances, the fins are tilted to obtain the angular setting providing the minimum possible drag. In other flight conditions the lift is maintained constant. <IMAGE>
