摘要 |

The invention relates to a process which is characterised by low melting costs and also reduces the environmental load and to a simple-functioning piece of equipment for melting iron alloys, in particular steel scrap, in a coke-fired cupola furnace for the production of cast iron. According to the process, the furnace gas is partially withdrawn at a temperature of > 400 degrees Celsius in the preheating zone and is simultaneously fed in again in the melting and superheating zone with > 23 per cent oxygen. A further characteristic is that the partially withdrawn furnace-gas quantity constitutes up to 70 per cent of the furnace gases resulting in the melting process. Through feeding in furnace gas, in particular through the CO content of the furnace gas, gaseous fuel is fed in which burns with the oxygen. The reducing conditions in the gas-fired cupola furnace are thus intensified, in turn resulting in an improvement of the metallurgical effects.

|
