摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To easily and stably produce a high carbon steel wire rod excellent in wiredrawability and other properties by subjecting a low-P and low-S molten pig iron to blowing and to Si deoxidation in a converter, further performing ladle refining by the use of a specific flux, and then exerting continuous casting and rolling. CONSTITUTION:A molten pig iron in which P and S contents are reduced to <=0.010wt.% and <=0.010wt.%, respectively, in a molten pig iron pretreatment stage is charged into a converter. At the time of tapping after blowing in this converter, Si deoxidation is exerted and the resulting molten steel is received in a ladle lined with non-alumina refractory while adding a CaO-SiO2 type flux in which CaO/SiO2 is regulated to 0.7-1.1. After this molten slag is slagged off, Cab-SiO2 type slag in which CaO/SiO2 is regulated to 0.7-0.9 and also Al2O3 content is regulated to <=10wt.% is formed by means of arc heating type ladle refining and the total amount of Al to be mixed is regulated to <=0.010kg per ton of molten steel, and treatment is done by means of top and bottom agitation. This molten metal is subjected to electromagnetic agitation in the mold and at the last stage of solidification and central segregation is reduced and continuous casting is then exerted. Subsequently, rolling is performed to form a wire rod.</p>
