The present invention relates to an installation for drying moist, selenium-containing material in an oven 1 efficiently such that the moisture in the material is vaporised and the selenium which is present in the material is caused to evaporate. The selenium-containing material is treated batchwise in the oven in roasting vessels 3 which have been arranged in several storeys which are situated one above the other. A uniform evaporation and vaporisation at the different levels of the material is achieved, in particular, by means of the optimised gas circulation according to the invention, which is achieved using a fan 6 which is arranged in the gable of the oven. The installation is particularly suitable for treating anode sludge from electrolysis, with the selenium being removed in the form of selenium oxide from the pretreated and filtered anode sludge using the installation in accordance with the invention. <IMAGE>
