PURPOSE:To realize a metallic catalyst support for purifying exhaust gas by which a catalyst can be further activated earlier. CONSTITUTION:In a metallic catalyst support 1, a flat wave pair 5 is composed by welding a metallic thin flat plate 3 to a metallic thin wavy plate 4, and the catalyst 1 is formed in honeycomb shape by rolling up this flat wave pair 5. Exhaust gas is passed through the honeycomb shape metallic catalyst support 1. Many louvers 6 are provided on the flat plate 3 rather on the upper stream side from the center part of a channel through which the exhaust gas in the metallic catalyst support 1 is passed. The forming area of these louvers 6 is a turbulent flow part which makes the exhaust gas turbulent flow. Sixty specific parts 9 without the wavy plate 4 are provided on the upper stream part from the turbulent flow part. A gas channel in the specific parts 9 including no wavy plate 4 is larger than the other gas channel, and the ventilation resistance of the specific parts 9 including no wavy plate 4 in the upper stream part of the turbulent flow part is smaller than the other part. |
