PURPOSE:To facilitate the control of a shield machine for its excavating direction and attitude to form each a leading head disposed at the outer circumference of the cross section of a tunnel in the construction of the large cross sectional tunnel. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of mutually adjacent leading heads are constructed by a shield machine 1 using segments 4 in order along the outer circumference of the cross section of a tunnel, and the inner side section of the cross section of the tunnel enclosed by the leading heads is thereby excavated. The shield machine 1 is engaged with each guide 5 formed in the segment 4 adjacent thereto, and performs excavation while being guided by each guide 5. |
