A film splicer has a channel for aligning the ends of the film to be joined, a holder for adhesive tape and punches mounted on a hinged cover which fits into the channel to punch holes in the tape in register with the film perforations. As shown, the ends of the film to be joined are first cut in guillotine 40, 41 of which block 40 is adjustable by screws 39 towards and away from the base 1 of the splicer. The overlapping or, preferably, abutting join is located in the centre of plate 6 by the engagement of pins 7 with the film perforations. On closing plate 19 and operating handle 30 a number of punches extend from holes 22 and perforate the tape which is simultaneously cut by two blades 27. The reverse side of the film may be similarly treated. The cutting ends of the punches have V-shaped notches in them( Fig. 2, not shown). |
