A magnetic recording medium comprises a base having a rough surface (e.g. paper) on which is cast-coated a non-magnetizable layer to provide a smooth surface, a magnetizable layer being then cast-coated on to this smooth surface to provide a magnetic layer having a uniform thickness and a smooth surface. The non- magnetizable layer may include a solution or dispersion of synthetic resin and starch or casein, and these substances may be included in the magnetic layer which also includes magnetic particles. Glossy art paper and textile fabrics are mentioned as constituting base substances. |
