The hollow cylindrical pile (9), bell-mouthed at the top, is guided vertically into the ground under the action of high-frequency hammer-blows. The blows are transmitted by a component (10) fitting positively round the pile top edge (12). This can be of truncated-cone shape with its top edge bent over. It can consist of several cone sections of different diameters combined together, the cone facets bearing against the inside surface of the bell-mouth.
