The use of curable dough moulding compounds (BMC) (I) for the prodn. of directly metallisable headlamp reflectors is claimed. In addition to (A) unsatd. polyester (UP) resins, (C) low-shrinkage polymer components, (D) reinforcing glass fibres, (E) fillers, (F) peroxide initiators and opt. (G) other additives, these materials also contain (B) 2-12 wt.% crystalline unsatd. polyester which is insol. in styrene at room temp. Also claimed are headlamp reflectors made from (I). Pref. compsn. (I) contains 8-20 wt.% (A) in the form of a soln. in styrene, 2-12 wt.% (B), 5-12 wt.% (C), 8-20 wt.% (D), 40-70 wt.% (E), 0.1-1 wt.% (F) and opt. (G) (to make up 100 wt.%). (B) is a condensation prod. of fumaric acid, opt. together with terephthalic acid, with butane-1,4-diol. (C) is PMMA or a satd. polyester.
