The retainer unit (1), to hold the upper parts of spindles (2) at a ring spinner against withdraw from the bearing housing, is held by at least one spring (7) at the under side of the spindle rail cladding (8) so that its lock (3) is disengaged from the radial shoulder (14) of a spindle (2). The retainer assembly has a ratchet lock (5) which, when in place at the spindle rail cladding (8), is supported against the reassertion force of the spring (7).
