<p>Compression units (18,20) are situated above a horizontal supporting table (10), designed to compress a batch of products (P) horizontally to give a set compressed dimension. The compressed products are then passed to a receiving chamber (24) with an opening (26) at the bottom and a base (28) at the top. The compressed batch is pushed into the receiving chamber with a film layer (F) covering it. Once it is in the chamber the ends of the film layer are brought together underneath it and welded, forming a wrapped bundle which can then be transferred to a removal unit (44). The remaining film ends stay welded together in readiness for the next batch. <IMAGE></p> |
