An assembly of two supporting parts for supporting the body or part of the body of a human or animal, in which the supporting parts can move with respect to one another, as numerous possible applications. For example, an assembly of this nature can be used in a chair (for example a dentist's chair, a car seat), a (treatment) table or a prosthesis for supporting a knee, for example. By providing a first supporting part with a curved segment and providing the second supporting part with a guide for moving the curved segment along it, the centre of the movement virtually corresponding to a theoretical rotation point of the body or body part, it is possible to obtain an assembly with which the body can be placed in any desired position without shifting.
