PURPOSE:To produce a lowly halogenated hydrocarbon by substituting the halogen atom of a halogenated hydrocarbon with hydrogen atom while keeping the catalytic activity over a long period. CONSTITUTION:This process for the production of a lowly halogenated hydrocarbon, for example, the production of a lowly halogenated hydrocarbon such as chloroform from a halogenated hydrocarbon such as carbon tetrachloride comprises the liquid-phase reaction of a halogenated hydrocarbon with hydrogen in the presence of a reduction catalyst to substitute the halogen atom of the halogenated hydrocarbon with hydrogen atom. The reaction is carried out while supplying a liquid such as the raw material liquid to the inner surface of the reactor, thereby washing off the reduction catalyst deposited on the inner surface into the liquid phase. |
