PURPOSE:To flatten a color filter layer and eliminate the influence of residual dross and dust on following processes by pressing filter dust produced in the formation of the color filter layer in the color filter layer while maintaining the thickness of the color filter layer. CONSTITUTION:On a base 1 of glass, etc., color filter layers 22-24 are formed several times. The filter dust produced in the formation of the color filter layers 22-24 sticks on the surfaces of the color filters layers 22-24, but the color filter layers 22-24 are pressed with specific pressure (4-10kg/cm<2>) to an extent where their thickness is not decreased, namely, maintained. Consequently, the filter dust which sticks on the surfaces of the color filter layers 22-24 and projects from the surface is crushed and pressed in the color filter layers 22-24 wholly or partially, so that the color filter layers 22-24 can be flattened. Then an organic insulating film 3, a transparent electrode film 4, and an orientation film 5 are laminated and the orientation film 5 is oriented to obtain the substrate for the liquid crystal display unit. |
