<p>PURPOSE:To connect pipes together without using any bolt or nut by applying a sealing face pressure to a rubber ring and sending electric current to an electric resistance wire buried in resin while maintaining the sealing face pressure onto the rubber ring so as to integrally fuse thermoplastic resin buried on the outside face of a pressing ring and a thermoplastic resin wedge member together. CONSTITUTION:For connecting pipes 1, 3 together, a pressing ring 18, a thrust ring 13, and a rubber ring 11 are inserted and fitted in a spigot 4 of the pipe 3, while a stopper ring 30, a buffering rubber rings 28, 29, and a socket ring 27, all of which constitute a wedge member 25, are set in a socket 2 of the pipe 1. Then, pressing force is applied to the pressing ring 18 by means of a hydraulic jack or the like for inserting the rubber ring 11 between a socket groove 8 and the spigot 4, while the predetermined sealing face pressure is generated in the rubber ring 11. In this way, a projecting bar of the stopper ring 30 bites into the outside face of the pressing ring 18 so as to be fixed in the rubber ring 11 while maintaining the sealing face pressure. Subsequently, electric current is sent to an electric resistance wire 32 inside the socket ring 27, and as a result, a thermoplastic resin spigot ring and the pressing ring 18 are integrally fused.</p> |
