A method is provided for inhibiting or preventing toxicity and other unwanted effects (a) caused by solvents for pharmaceuticals which solvents contain castor oil or ricinoleic acid or derivatives thereof, such as Cremophor, or (b) caused by a drug, such as cyclosporine A, dissolved or suspended in solvents such as ricinoleic acid or castor oil or derivative thereof, employing a thromboxane A2 receptor antagonist. Solvent compositions containing ricinoleic acid or castor oil or derivatives thereof and a thromboxane A2 receptor antagonist, and pharmaceutical compositions including a drug, solvent containing ricinoleic acid or castor oil or derivative thereof, and a thromboxane A2 receptor antagonist are also provided.
