<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an acylimidazole derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate for medicines, etc., in high yield in a short step by oxidizing an alkylimidazole derivative with a persulfate in the presence of a salt of a transition metallic element. CONSTITUTION:The method for producing an acylimidazole derivative expressed by formula II (R<1> and R<2> are each H, a halogen, an alkyl, an alkenyl or an aryl; R<3> is H, an alkyl, alkenyl or an aryl) is to oxidize a compound expressed by formula I with a persulfate (e.g. sodium persulfate) in the presence of a salt of a transition metallic element (e.g. ferrous sulfate hydrate) in a solvent (e.g. ethanol) at 0-100 deg.C. A copper salt alone or a mixture thereof with salts of one or more elements selected from the group consisting of group TTTA, VIA, VIIA and VIII elements, group IB elements other than the copper and group IIB elements is used as the salt of transition metallic element in an amount of 0.005-10mol based on 1mol compound expressed by formula I.</p> |
