A closure for a fuel tank filler pipe comprises a body (126) carrying a seal (182) at one end for engagement with an outer end of the filler pipe, an outer cover (110), and a latch member (140) at the other end of the body (126) coupled to the cover (110) and having latching projections (160, 162) for engagement with complementary formations on the filler pipe. A spring (128) biases the latch member (140) towards the outer cover (110) so as to urge the seal (182) into engagement with the end of the filler pipe when the latching projections (160, 162) on the latch member (140) are in engagement with the complementary formations on the filler pipe. The connection between the latch member (140) and the outer cover (110) allows a predetermined range of angular movement of the outer cover (110) relative to the latch member (140) in the unlocking direction before unlocking commences. <IMAGE> |
