PURPOSE:To ensure that data are printed in a plurality of lines, if such printing is to be made in the longitudinal direction of a tape by arranging entered character data in lines in the width direction of a tape and selecting the size of characters which can be printed in lines within the width of the tape to form print data. CONSTITUTION:A movement means moves relatively a printing head arranged to meet the width of a printing medium tape and the tape in a longitudinal direction which is orthogonal with the width direction of the tape. In addition, an input means enters character data to be printed. Further, a line setting means sets the action to print the character data in a single or a plurality of lines in the width direction of the tape. A selection means selects the size of characters to be printed on the tape. A data formation means selects the size of characters which is suitable for printing in a plurality of lines within the width of the tape, if the printing of data a plurality of lines is set, with the help of the selection means, and arranges character data equivalent to the number of lines which is set by the line setting means in accordance with the width direction of the tape to form print data. |
